Moving a Canon to the Central Column

"Moving a Canon to the Central Column", is less a site-specific installation than a fitting-out waiting to take off.

A stage is set to invite passer-by and viewers to play a game of Chinese chess, joining other improvised game sets that pop-up here an there in the adjacent market alleys.

"Moving a Canon to the Central Column" is not made to be looked at, rather it is to be used by. Once activated it is no more art than other nearby game sets are: a space to play.

"Moving a Canon to the Central Column" (當頭炮) is the most common opening move in Chinese chess game.
